Leadership Development and Mentorship program
O4Z notes that a lack of able and principled leadership is a key factor in the challenges facing our communities and the nation at large. In addressing this issue, the organization has embarked on this program with a view to identify, nurture and develop the capacities of youth leaders and activists to be at the front in leading various processes affecting their fellow youth, citizens or constituents. There is a notable lack of capacity development for young and emerging leaders at various levels and this ultimately affects the development of organizations, political parties and other such entities, hamstrung by the lack of new leaders.
To date the organization has identified the CANVASSITY PAN AFRICAN Youth Democracy Fellowship as an appropriate partner in developing leaders with the requisite understanding of the challenges facing contemporary African society and as such has established a cooperation link with the Institute where four youth leaders from Zimbabwe are given preference to participate in their leadership training courses which are done in partnership with the University of South Africa. As a member of the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust network, the organization also gets to forward two young people to participate in the YETT Winter School, a training initiative for youth leaders held annually.
As part of our mentoring we take students on attachment periodically.
